What is an e-commerce platform?

What exactly is "e-commerce"? This is the question asked by many people nowadays. It is a kind of electronic commerce that is now in vogue. Many people either know nothing about it or confuse it with other labels. The aim of this presentation is to provide you with a clear definition of the e-commerce platform. We might as well give you a precise explanation of its specificity. We will spend as much time talking about the different kinds of e-commerce, as well as the advantages that come with it.

What is e-commerce?

E-commerce platfrom or electronic commerce is the exchange of money, goods, services or information via the Internet or other networks. In other words, it is a business that handles payments using electronic platforms. However, there is a difference between e-business and e-commerce. They are two approaches that are often confused. But one has nothing to do with the other. When we talk about a transaction of services and goods between two contractors, the buyer and the seller, we are talking about e-commerce. The latter refers only to the transaction of goods and services between a buyer and a seller. As for the e-business platform, it refers to numerous processes to be implemented, with the aim of managing a remote or online business. Thus, it is a question of regulating the system of action. It should be noted, however, that the e-commerce platform is part of e-business.

The different forms of e-commerce or online trade

The e-commerce platform or online trade has a wide range of possibilities. There are many different models. However, they can be classified into just two. There is the classification based on the business profile. In this case, it must be determined who is the seller and who is the buyer? The trade is mainly oriented and focused on the specificity of the customer. In B2B, for example, it is a trade between two companies. The second example in this concept is B2C or "Business-to-Consumer". The final consumers are the direct customers of the production company. This is very common in developing countries, especially in e-commerce.

The importance of e-commerce

The motivating factor in online sales, or e-commerce platforms, is that everyone has the right to consult and see the products on display via the Internet. Nowadays, the Internet is easily integrated via wifi networks. This is a fast type of connection. Most hotels and restaurants and almost all public places are wifi-enabled. This means that whatever you want to buy can be done at any place, wherever you are. This type of sale is therefore favourable in terms of business.
